Winter Weather Update for Thursday, January 27
The City of Alexandria is open with liberal leave for employees today, and essential employees are working around the clock to recover from the snowstorm yesterday. Here are some important updates for residents:
- City crews have plowed all primary routes and are currently working on secondary routes and hilly streets. To report a snow-related road condition on a primary route, or get more information, visit www.alexandriava.gov/SnowReport or call the Snow Hotline at 703.746.4488.
- Downed trees and power lines have caused hundreds of power outages throughout the City. To report a power outage, contact Dominion Virginia Power at 1.866.366.4357.
- Trash and recycling will be collected on a normal schedule, although there may be some delays and trucks may pass through later than usual.
- DASH Bus service is operating on a regular weekday schedule, starting with a two-hour delay. Buses will operate on major streets only, until further notice. The King Street Trolley will resume normal service today at 11:30 a.m.
- Property owners and tenants are responsible for clearing the snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property with 24 hours of the end of the storm. Accessible curb ramps, sidewalks, and pathways adjacent to publicly-owned property are cleared by the City. If you have elderly or disabled neighbors, please lend a hand in helping them clear snow.
