Grills and Volunteers Needed for NNO 2010

CALL FOR GRILLS FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2010

National Night Out 2010 (NNO) is this coming Tuesday, August 3rd, 5:30 to 8:30 and WVCA is requesting to borrow about 5 propane gas grills from our residents; we currently have two but still need three more.

In exchange for use of your grill the committee will pick up the grill from your home; return the grill to you; and it will be returned to you with a full tank of propane.  When picked up the propane tank does not have to be full, we will take care of that for you.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS … Volunteers are needed for National Night Out 2010.  There will be three shifts.  The first shift will be to help set up various items such as small tents, chairs, tables, food prep station and other stations as necessary.  The second is to help serve food to our guests and visitors at the food tent.  The third shift consists of breaking down the small tents, tables, chairs, removing trash from the area.

The first shift will start around 3:30, the second shift will start at the time of the event; 5:30, and the third shift will start at 7:30.  If you are interested in helping to make this year’s NNO event a super success please contact me at WarwickVillage@hotmail.com.  You can also contact this year’s WVCA chairperson, Aaron Shriber, at aaronshriber@yahoo.com.

This year’s NNO will be held at the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center, with most events being held inside in the gym.  Food preparation and the water balloon toss will be held outside.

CAMPAIGN FOR WARWICK POOL

A group is forming to lead a campaign to advocate for the long-term presence of a pool at the current Warwick Village location.  The group is still in the planning stages and needs volunteers to develop messages and fliers, distribute materials, recruit supporters, and fundraise; we are also looking for a Chairperson to overlook this project; someone that can help ensure that we can do the right thing with our pool and help keep it a safe and functional part of our community.  If you are interested please contact Andy Duncan, a_duncan@comcast.net or 703-549-2727.  Without community effort the pool funding won’t be put back into the budget.
