Snow Buddy Program

Volunteer Alexandria is requesting additional volunteer support with their Snow Buddy program. With the streets, sidewalks and driveways full of snow and storm warning from this afternoon through tomorrow; many seniors are not able to get out of their homes and/or in home care services are not able to access them.

Snow Buddies provide snow removal, leaf raking, and lawn mowing assistance for Alexandria’s residents that are senior citizens or people with disabilities who are unable to do it themselves. Volunteers will be assigned a home in Alexandria where they will go in order to perform these services when they are needed. Volunteers must have their own shovel. Volunteer Alexandria does not provide shovels or salt. Volunteers are needed in 22304, 22305, 22311, and 22312

If you are able to volunteer as a Snow Buddy in your Alexandria residential area, please give me a call so we can match you up with senior residents in the area.
703-340-7841. You may also email at Amy.Tarte@vdh.virginia.gov

This is for City of Alexandria residents or those who are close to the city limits, please don’t venture out in the storm if you don’t live in the area, although we truly appreciate those who have already offered.
