Students of Cora Kelly Fundraiser for Haiti

Starting Tuesday, January 26, Cora Kelly students are going to buckle down and read, read, read to raise money for Haiti relief thru the Red Cross, and to help support CK Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education. The Read-A-Thon will run thru February 16th, and YOU can help. Be a sponsor for the CK kids you know, and help them achieve their reading and fund-raising goals. We’d love every kid to get at least 5 sponsors at the minimum $5 level, which would be terrific, but the more sponsors, the better. If the kids raise over $5000, their assistant principal will shave his head, and they REALLY want to see this happen! Where could we use more help? If you own a business, or have contacts with local businesses that might want to match or contribute funds, or challenge the kids to read a certain number of minutes for a contribution, let me know!! I am CK PTA Treasurer, email and phone are below. We’d love to spread the word throughout our Alexandria communities to raise awareness about what these great kids are doing. And we’d love to help the kids make their impact even bigger. One of the teachers told me today that her class was already thinking of additional ways they could raise money to help Haiti kids deal with the recovery from the earthquake. So the kids are excited and ready to get started — let’s help them get there! Thanks so much! Ashley Chappell ash22301@yahoo.com ashley.chappell@noaa.gov 240-429-0293
